Sometimes it's not about the life we've led, but what we leave behind.
We discover so much about our past and about ourselves as we dig deep into this earth.
I often wonder, when some other species either lands or evolves on this planet, long after our bones are dust, and the remnants of our great society reduced to objects buried deep within the ruins, what is it they would find?
What conclusions would they draw about who we were, how we lived, how it all went wrong, whether or not we ever left this place?
The thought of creating a landscape of ideas might tell our future selves a thing or two, just enough to confuse and confound, creating more questions than answers.
Isn't that what art should do?
It may or may not be all that important. Sometimes you can convey more thoughts and imagery with a soundscape than an actual song with words telling you what to think.
What I have to say with this music is, and should be, open to interpretation. No explanation should be necessary. Those who understand will encourage others to do the same.
That is not to say that there are no words to be had on this album.
There are.
Some words have a different meaning in the way that they are said, the way they are perceived, and the way they are presented.
Do the same words mean the same things to different people?
Do they mean different things to the same people?
Are we too different to understand those words?
I hope when and if they dig up this album, they will know that somebody thinks about these things more than the wreckage may convey.
This is our future.
This is our art.
This is our truth.
This is our fiction.
